I have been a full-time artist for over 20 years. Much of my work is on granite. I design monuments for over 25 different companies. My work is permanently etched and carved, and the subject matter is endless. Most of my work is commissioned. You can find my art on-line at my website address, face book, Linked-in, several museums, and endless cemeteries and parks.
Etching and Carving Granite: I have etched and carved granite for over 22 years. It is my passion to tell the stories of our lives and times on stone. Diamond etching is a permanent way to record our history for generations to come.
Paintings and Murals: I have done numerous paintings of many subjects, and murals in churches, schools, homes, restaurants, and public spaces.
Collaboration: I am V-P of Bonner Springs Arts Alliance, and work to promote the arts in Wyandotte and surrounding counties, as well as the State of Kansas. On a professional level, I work with clients, and offer professional collaboration on design, actual artwork, and installation as needed. My goal is to get that “WOW!” from the client. I work with local art groups in Kansas, to help them achieve high rates of tourism, by offering public art, and bringing local art groups to be involved in the process.
I studied art with J. Leland Jones. He was an illustrator for Time and Life magazines for many years. He was an advocate for real art basics, such as perspective, line, understanding color, proper shading, etc.
A favorite recent work is Legends Gathering—Epic Tales
I started my art career as an illustrator/painter. Legends Gathering—Epic Tales is an exciting take on Bible History, and includes study of how the people in the Bible might have looked, dressed, and interacted in their time in history. It was painted from a concept put together by Larry D. Daugherty, ED. D. Biographical Information: www.getquestions.org (“used with permission”) Advisor: Marilyn Daugherty. Working on this painting has touched me deeply, and I have gained new understanding of humanity in Biblical History.
